Finding Your Voice, Living Your Passion: The CVAP Journey
In a world where voices are heard but not always recognized, one movement dares to make a difference—Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP). Founded by none other than The VoiceMaster himself, Pocholo De Leon Gonzales, CVAP is more than just a training ground for aspiring voice artists. It is a home for dreamers, a sanctuary for storytellers, and a launching pad for those who dare to speak their greatness into existence.
From Dreams to Reality
Voice acting is not just about making funny voices or mimicking characters—it is an art, a craft, and a powerful tool for storytelling. Yet, despite the growing demand for voice talents in animation, audiobooks, IVRs, gaming, and AI technology, there was once no structured way to learn it in the Philippines.
That was until CVAP broke barriers.
Sir Pocholo, with his two decades of pioneering the industry, created CVAP as a mission-driven initiative. It stands not just to teach voice acting but to empower individuals to find and love their own voice, to use their gift to inspire and uplift others. And from this noble vision, a thriving community of voice artists was born.
Changing Lives, One Voice at a Time
Ask any CVAP graduate, and they'll tell you—joining the program is a life-changing experience.
Erbil, one of the graduates, described CVAP as a blessing. A passionate artist himself, he found voice acting to be another medium of expression. He realized that his voice, like his paintings, could tell stories, evoke emotions, and leave a lasting impact.
He had always admired DJs and voice talents, but never thought he could be one—until CVAP opened its doors to him. “Here in the Philippines, there’s nothing like this yet. I learned that being a voice artist is more than just speaking. It’s about creating magic with your voice.”
Similarly, Laracel Haurige Villar, aka Voice Mommy, joined CVAP with the hope of enhancing her skills and using her voice for a positive and meaningful purpose. Through her journey, she discovered the importance of having a niche, the power of storytelling, and the technical know-how of voice artistry. From scriptwriting and vocal exercises to live acting and radio drama production, CVAP equipped her with the tools to turn her dream into reality.
"Every week was an eye-opener," she shared. "I was given the chance to create my brand, market myself, and collaborate with fellow voice artists. CVAP gave me confidence and a renewed passion for my craft."
Another inspiring journey comes from DJ Sherwin, who had been a radio DJ and event host before joining CVAP. Despite his experience, he realized that formal training in voice artistry could elevate his career even further.
"I had been doing voiceovers for years, but I never had the right training. CVAP gave me discipline, knowledge, and a deeper understanding of voice acting," he shared. "It’s not just about the technicalities—it’s about values, passion, and persistence. You may be talented, but if you don’t have discipline, you won’t last in this industry."
Sherwin learned how to properly market himself, create a compelling voice demo, and network with industry professionals. He even experienced on-the-spot dubbing challenges, live acting via Zoom, and radio drama productions that honed his craft. His biggest takeaway? “Practice, practice, practice. Never stop improving.”
Like Erbil, Laracel, and Sherwin, many have stepped into CVAP unsure of their potential, only to emerge confident, skilled, and ready to take on the world.
